COMPARISON OF HOMOGENEOUS ENZYME IMMUNOASSAY (EMIT) AND GAS-LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHIC MEASUREMENTS OF PLASMA PHENOBARBITAL, DIPHENYLHYDANTOIN AND PRIMIDONE CONCENTRATIONS IN EPILETIC PATIENTS
The plasma PB (N=47), DPH (N=39) and primidone (N=30) levels in epileptic patients were determined by using EMIT and GLC and then, the determined values obtained by each of the two methods were compared. The high correlation was observed between the two methods in all three drugs as follows: γ=0.974 for PB,γ=0.981 for DPH, and γ=0.962 for primidone. EMIT has a considerably high accuracy and well reproducibility in addition to the simplicity of its operation, therefore, it may be possible to be applied as a routine clinical laboratory examination in the near future.
