Two cases of colonic stricture of Crohn’s disease: challenges analyzed by Shear Wave Elastography against different stricture types
Crohn’s disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease that occasionally presents with strictures. Intestinal strictures have two main types; benign inflammatory/fibrosis and malignant/cancer strictures. However, diagnosing CD strictures can be very difficult, because of the inability to perform endoscopy or inadequate biopsy. In these case reports, we describe the difference in shear wave speed (SWS) assessment between fibrosis and cancer using shear wave elastography (SWE). SWE examination showed differences between benign and malignant stenosis in CD patients.
